De Dietrich Process Systems, Inc. Introduces Batchmixer Based on the Powder Transfer System (PTS) tech- nology, the Batchmixer (patent pending) was developed by Dec (Dietrich Engineering Consultants) to mix active substances in a self- contained system. This system allows contamination free and product friendly mixing (no rotating mechanical parts) in batch mode under inert conditions. This offers the ability to mix powders with different characteristics, including hygroscopic, oxygen sensitive or explosive powders. The system comprises a main container with an integrated central deflector that enables a homo- genous distribution of the mixture in the tank. A PTS with two tangential inlets is installed on top of the container. The powders are introduced automatically by the PTS system and then circulated within the container for a predetermined period of time. The mixing effect in the PTS body, when the two jets of powder meet, makes it possible to increase the speed and effectiveness of the mixing process significantly. Since the speed at which powders are circulated is limited, particles are not damaged. Various powders can be mixed with large differ- ences in mixing ratio (1/10,000) at a low mixing time.            Figure 1: Batchmixer based on PTS technology. The Batchmixer is virtually maintenance free and can be cleaned in place (CIP). This technology is able to be integrated easily into all kinds of production lines, because powders are transferred, mixed and discharged in an automatic and closed way.
