The
Patent-Pending DCS is designed to be used in conjunction with the
Patented PTS (Powder Transfer System). Together they eliminate product
contamination and operator exposure to the product being transferred
VERSATILITY
- Suitable
for virtually any size drum with liners, of any material
- Glove box
assembly is height adjustable for different size drums
- Cost effective
solution with substantially less investment than a reactor isolator
or a clean room
- Requires
only one operator to function
- Hazardous
materials can be transferred in the production area without endangering
nearby personnel or disrupting other production processes
- Can be easily
moved from one production area to another by means of a forklift
or a pallet truck. The lance support retracts to reduce the height
requirement
CONTAINMENT
- OEL (operator
exposure level) of 1 µgm/m3 @ 1m
- DCS provides
several containment barriers. The glove box provides a dust tight
seal with the drum. Both inner and outer drum liners are sealed
to a sealing ring. The suction lance is isolated by a containment
sleeve
- The glove
box has integral filters for venting and operates under a slight
negative pressure so there is no exposure even in the event of
a barrier failure
- DCS can
be completely cleaned or the filters changed in a totally contained
manner
OPERATOR SAFETY
AND WELL BEING
- The suction
lance is easily manipulated from outside the glove box for maximum
operator freedom of movement
- The wand
has a guard to prevent the liners from blocking the wand opening
- The wand
has a counterbalance to reduce operator fatigue and back problems
- The ergonomic
design eliminates the operator fatigue associated with handling
solids in isolators

The Drum Containment
System can be easily moved from one production area to another by
means of a pallet truck or a forklift. The counterbalance support
for the suction lance retracts to reduce the height during transportation.
This
picture shows a typical layout with a PTS installed on the manway
with a stainless steel reactor. An adapter piece has been used to
correct for the angle of the manway (not essential but desirable).
The portable DCS is located on the right. The suction lance of the
DCS is connected directly to the inlet of the PTS by a product hose
- Control
Panel
- Vacuum/Nitrogen
hose
- Lifting
device to remove PTS
- Inlet to
PTS with product hose from DCS
- PTS installed
on a reactor manway cover
- Suction
lance with containment sleeve
- Vent line
- Filter
- Drum Containment
System
- Glove ports
- DCS Controls
- Optional
cleaning drum
- Drum conveyor
