The three most common operating errors of mechanical seals (that will eventually cause seal failures) are:

1. Setting the pressure in the seal housing at too high or too low a pressure.
2. Drive problems which cause high runout of the agitator shaft due to drive problems.
3. Running the agitator with the liquid at blade level.
